my experiment in crowd-sourced artwork...

NEWS

must hear...

taperecorder artworkwas at an amazing show this week - taperecorder's album release - and came home with a gorgeous LP. super-duper beats and sounds from marc francis (who is taperecorder) and beautiful vocals from bethany spiers (who did an equally beautiful solo set as the feverfew). the night was rounded out by montreal's toboggan, with more beats to love. all three artists are worth checking out, so here are their digital homes:

musical inspiration for the week

My grandmother's sister had her 100th birthday party last weekend and during the program, she got up to play happy birthday on the piano!!! How inspiring... I certainly hope to still be playing music at 100! Herzlichen Gluckwunsch zum Geburtstag, Tante Mariechen!

Hum on The Signal

Just a friendly suggestion to tune into CBC Radio 2's program, The Signal, tonight. It's a great program that has introduced me to lots of interesting new music, and so I am pleased as punch that Ms. Brown will be playing the Leon Louder remix of my song, hum, tonight. The program starts at 10PM, and the song will probably be played after 11. Use this link to find out what numbers to "dial" into.

deare's bliss

i recently came across a great Los Angleles based podcast called Eclectic Bliss, whose tagline is "submerge in delicious music" - sounds yummy, right? the lovely girl who does the podcast has already been so kind as to play "hum" and she also just included my song "deare" in her latest podcast! She plays great stuff and is really worth checking out - not just because she plays my music! :D

to further the bliss of "deare," here's the video that my brother and i shot for the song, for those of you who have never seen it:

weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee float

was watching the olympics last night and flipped over to another channel during a commercial. 90210 was on, which is not something i'd normally watch, but what was playing was such a treat to hear: PJ Harvey's song "We Float" from her album "Stories From the City, Stories From the Sea." I've been thinking about that song - especially the chorus - non-stop since then, and was so inspired by it that i just had to write a song myself today. here it is so you can enjoy it too! and of course, you'll also be hearing the song i'm writing at some point.

new digs

welcome to my new 'n' improved website. it's still coming together, but i'm pretty pleased with it so far. let me know what you think!

as a thank you, i'm offering, for free, the moment-of-creation version of my song "hum" to everyone who joins my mailing list (see where to do that? top right corner?). it's the live, one-take recording that i did as it was being written. you can read the full story behind that lovely moment
here and the EP of "hum" which includes two lovely remixes is for sale here. AND if your mp3's artwork doesn't come up in your player, contact me and i'll send it to you. i put a lotta love into my little paperclip masterpiece (teehee) and i want to make sure it gets shared along with the song!

come back soon to see and hear more, but feel free to click around and check out what's already here!
